International Performing Arts for Youth
has evolved over time. The first International Showcase was presented
in Chicago in March 1979 and was hosted by a committee established by
the Children ’s Theatre Association of America(CTAA). Showcase has
since been held in cities throughout the United States and Canada. In
1988, the Association of International Performing Arts Festivals for
Children created a standing Showcase committee. In 1998 that committee
began hosting a series of vision meetings with artists,presenters and
managers in the field, which has lead to the formation of the
International Association of Performing Arts for Young People (known
informally as IPAY — International Performing Arts for Youth). The
future of young audience performances has never looked brighter!
